This systematic review examines research on loss, grief, and bereavement among adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It identifies gaps in existing research and highlights factors that can support healthier grieving experiences.
Explore research about grief and loss in the IDD community and learn about the work that informed the development of Paths.
Paths is grounded in research and ongoing collaboration with the IDD community. Our research includes adults with IDD, family members, caregivers, and service providers to better understand grief and loss from different perspectives. Including adults with IDD directly in the research ensures that their lived experiences are an important part of what we learn.
The IDD community provides ongoing input throughout the project. Together, research findings and community guidance inform the development of accessible, relevant, and useful Paths resources.
